Mmmmmmmmmm

http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/

Lainey wanted french toast for breakfast so I thought I would make this for myself since I was already frying breakfast. Mmmmmmmmm - very tasty! This will definetly be on my list of cravings! Too bad I'm the only one in the house that likes my egg yolk runny :( Mom says that G'ma used to make this when she was growing up. Mmmmmmm....I skipped lunch today because, well, I was sleeping (thanks Shawn!) and this was not a low-cal breakfast!

Mom says I need to post :)

HAHAHAHA!

Well, the reason for no posting in a little while is really that nothing is going on! It is same old same old.

Cait is still fully of her boogery goodness. I broke out the snot sucker from her infanthood tonight. She didn't appreciate it. But the tubes seem to be doing their job so far. Her vocabulary is growing everyday. We know what words she is trying to say but most people probably don't. She also has a fascination with baby dolls - unlike Delainey at that age. She will carry them by their arms and over her shoulder. She will give them hugs and "love". Then another thing she does is walk around like Linus with her yellow blankie. I took a pic of her the other day with it - will have to post sometime.

Lainey has had 4 birthday parties to attend in the last month - well one was hers. But she is birthdayed out. Her really bad sunburn has FINALLY healed. The skin is still a bit pinkish - I guess it is new skin. Lainey has her first orthodontic appointment this next Monday - woohoo! I'm sure that he will say "Let's see her back in 6 months (or a year)" but early intervention is the key! I picked at her teeth to get them all nice and stain free for the occasion - my poor kids!

Eli is Eli. He isn't really saying that he is excited about kindergarten but he isn't saying he doesn't want to go either. Parenting him has been a bit of a struggle at times lately. He has started a "Nobody loves me" and "You love D more" thing. So we just keep reassuring him and pointing out the positive things he does. He is a sweet little boy though.

Shawn has had numerous basketball camps this summer and assited with the interview process for a new social studies teacher at the high school. He has enjoyed all of it. Right now he is playing Mr. Mom 2-3 days a week when the kids aren't in daycare and while I work. If I give him another week or two of that, he will be good and ready to go back to teaching in August!

I am still working my 28 hours a week. Then I joined the gym again and have been putting in darn near and hour every day. I have noticed more strength when lifting Cait and when climbing steps to my office at work. I've lost 5 pounds since the beginning of June. It is slow but hopefully the combo of eating better, working out, and some tips from my doctor will help it pick up a little.

So that is the File update! :)

Forgot to tell!!!

I am officially employed for another year - haha!! The grant that "funds" our dental sealant program was renewed - so yeah! Technically I am paid from the Medicaid reimbursements that our program obtains. But we need the grant to help sustain us. But regardless - I still have a job!!!

Plus, there is even some talk of me going full-time in the future - but not near future. But it is a thought!

A Motherhood moment...

So last night, I fed Cait and decided she really needed a bath because she was a booger mess. I started running the water in the tub then took her back to change the lovely mess that she had left in her diapy - which was a nice size mess, mind you.

We get back to the tub and I put her in and she starts playing and splashing. I get the towels out and then turn around to find her getting up from a squat and leaving a big floating present!!! YUCKKKK!!!! So out comes Cait - out comes her toys. Cait sets happily on the floor while I start to use the removeable showerhead to rinse her generous gift down the shower drain.

Did I mention her favorite foods right now are blueberries and raisins???? Yeah, they take a trip through the 22 pound body fairly unscathed.

While I am starting to rinse the tub, D comes in to go potty and I hear her go "Oh, Mommy!!!! Oh, yuck!!!! Oh Cait!!!!!"

I turn around to see that my precious little baby has decided to leave me yet a third present on the floor and INSIDE the floor register!!!!! Then she is proceeding to kick her little feet in it and feel it with her grimmy little hands. Gross!!!

I thank the Lord that the register was closed!!! If it wasn't, we would have been smelling that for months!

So I pick her back up - hose her down in the already contaminated bathtub - wrap her in a towel - close the door to the unsanitary bathroom - tell the other kids not to go into the filthy place - and take her to the master bath where she actually had her bath with no more gifts for Mommy.

I think Cait was pretty much oblivious to the chaos. Since she had her tubes put in, we have to put wax in her ears anytime she is going to be in water. So she was probably just hearing "wah, wah, wah" like on Charlie Brown.

And what a little doll she was in the bath. I put her in about 2 inches of water with bubbles and she just played, played, played! I'd imagine she felt good after relieving herself so much. She got on her tummy and just kicked and kicked. Then she thought that since she was on her tummy, she needed to lay her head down - ooopppps!!! That doesn't quite work! She would pop right up and go "uh, uh, uh" for me to wipe her face off. So cute :)

But then the clean up has to happen. That involves a lot of disinfectant, using the end of tweezers to pry the floor register up, opening the register to "flush" it, and a baby gated in the computer room being watched over by her siblings. Let me just say one thing about the clean-up process - the blueberries and raisins that remained unscathed during their journey through my precious baby.......well, they don't go down the drain!!! And that girl can eat!

Boogery Goodness

Cait and I are home from church today lavishing our mutual boogery goodness - ugh!

Any parent knows that whatever germs your child has obtained from who knows where - you are going to get them threefold. It doesn't matter if you eat as healthy as you can, exercise 20 times a week, slather yourself in GermX and drink Airbornne like it's going out of style - you are going to get sick! And most likely, you will be sicker than your spawn. WHY???? Because they are soooo pitiful when they are sick and you can't help but hug and kiss their snotty little faces - even if you infect yourself with microscopic little germies in the process. That is parenthood.

However, this little head cold will be a good test of whether Cait's tubes are going to do the job. Keep tuned to see if we have an ear infection in a week or so.

Still excited about direct tv. Once we get it, I think Shawn and I are going to have to take turns watching the kids so we can thouroughly explore our channel options.....and set the parental controls.

But, I'm thinking the Verizon Broadband is not going to work for us. I've only tried it once so far, but the signal is not good here in the house. We have a 10 day trial before we are under contract so I believe that we will be taking back our usb modem sometime this week.

My husband the deal maker....

Somehow he and his friend Larry managed to talk the Direct Tv person down 50% for 4 months on the package we wanted! Go Shawn and Larry!! Direct Tv here we come - July 29th!

It's been a few days....

Oh how I am loving not doing the bills!!!! Shawn sat at the table last night and wrote out all the bills - NOT ME!!! We are now lovingly calling the regular checkbook "his checkbook" and the college checking "my checkbook." I guess that is a little untraditional, but it gives us both access to money and exactly how much money we have without having to call the other and ask if there is money in checking to get gas, food, etc. With us both working, it will be convienent. Plus, Shawn is happy to have "his checkbook" and if Daddy is happy then everybody is happy! I think it is going to work out well for us!

And how we are disliking Comcast Cable. They have consistently raise our rates and took away our channels over the past few years to where we are now paying about $55/month for cable tv. When we first got married, we paid right around $30 - that was 10 years ago. Then we have $40/month cable internet through them so that makes our bill $95/month for crappy cable and good internet.

So, we are taking the plunge to change! We just signed up for Verizon Broadband Internet. It is a bit more expensive than what we are paying now but we will be able to use it anywhere - home, work, in the car, in a hotel. THEN, Shawn is suppose to be ordering Direct TV this afternoon. He was sooooo funny this morning being an "informed consumer." He called Direct TV twice to try and get a better deal from a different rep - and he did! $10 less for a year than the previous jerk of a rep. He wants direct tv for the Big Ten Network (wooohoooo!...uhhhh yeah) and we want Boomerang for Eli since they air the old cartoons like Tom & Jerry that he thinks are great!

Let's see - I'm back to the gym! Yeah! The Wii Fit just wasn't cutting it. I like to get AWAY from the kids to exercise and have some alone time. With the Wii Fit, they are underfoot and always talking to me. So now I have peace and some quiet at the gym. I get to watch tv uninterupted while I sweat on the elliptical or treadmill. Then I can listen to the tv's while a use the nautilis machines and get all buff and stuff...hahaha!

Oh and good news for me today - I got to buy a size smaller at Cato today - woohoooo! I'm sure a lot of that has to do with watching my portion sizes and calorie intake over the last 6 weeks and not necessarily going to the gym for the little time that I have been back there. But hey, I'm just happy to be in the bottom numbers of the women's section!!!!

And a praise to God for miracle babies!!!! I've known of two miracle babies in the past few weeks. One of the Mommas is high school friend of mine just found out she is pregnant!! She has been married for 8 1/2 years and has two adopted children - one domestic adoption and one little boy from Korea. And now they are getting a baby sister!!! Yes, that is right - she is almost 21 weeks and just found out yesterday. She just didn't think that it was a possibility for them to get pregnant due to infertility issues so she didn't think to suspect pregnancy when she wasn't feeling just right. What a shocker! The ultrasound showed that the baby is 14oz, is due right after Thanksgiving and is a little girl! I got to see the 4-D ultrasound pics today and she is beautiful. So praise the Lord for his unexpected blessings!
