Well, we have had our first tooth-related accident here in the File house....
Eli was rough housing with Daddy and somehow hit his upper front tooth on Shawn's knee. Eli's gum above the tooth was really swollen and purple, the gum was bleeding, and the tooth was loose. Shawn had a small tooth shaped boo-boo.
Momma dental hygienist was having a hard time thinking rationally with it being her own flesh-and-blood but we did well. There were no frantic calls to the dentist with Momma having seen this a million times before with other people's kids. We are in wait and see mode. The tooth is still loose and the gum is starting to look better. He has a check up in December and I will request an xray then. If he starts having a lot of pain or the tooth turns dark (nerve dying) we will pay young Dr. Davison a visit.
Delainey is quite the creative little girl. She is always coming up with little crafts or writing things. This evening, she made up her own tribute to cheese to the tune of the song that is a tribute to beans....beans, beans the magical fruit....although her cheese song is much more PC.
Cait ceases to amaze us with her cuteness. She now sings "Joy, joy, joy, joy" - so sweet. She also, at the age of 18 months, can blow her nose! It is the funniest thing! Sometimes she blows before we get the Kleenex up there but hey, it's better than sucking all that stuff back up! She finally has the point of one canine tooth in but is still working on 3 more canines and 4 molars.....all at the same time! That makes a very clingy and moody baby!
Eli....oh Eli. He is quite the little boy! Recently he has liked to push us to the edge of him getting in trouble. Listening the first time is also a challenge for him lately. Thank goodness that he just does this at home. His teacher praises him for being such a good boy at school. We are also a bit concerned that he doesn't seem to be making many friends at school. His teacher says that he is shy at school which would impair the friend making abilities. He does have little boys that he knows in class but they are a bit wilder than him and he doesn't want to hang out with them in fear of getting in trouble. So, before the school year is up, we are likely to request that he be placed in a class with different little boys in hopes of him getting away from some of the wilder boys and helping him make friends. On the positive side, I do have to say that he is the best little cleaner - he did this tonight. He can pick up his room so fast!! Oh and the other night he just melted his Daddy's heart - before bed he said "Daddy, can we go watch some sports??" :) and they did. E fell asleep cuddling Daddy while watching football.
Shawn officially started basketball practice today. Apparently, he is actually going to have to cut girls this year! I will try and refrain from the whole "breaking a girl's heart" speech that I gave him back when he was coaching softball and had to cut girls. He also has a few Sundays where he will be preaching coming soon!
I'm staying very busy with my job and with the kids at home. On interesting thing I witnessed this week was a girl who had been hit by her mother come into the nurses office at a school I was at. I guess that it just brings to light the fact that you never know what is going on in the homes of these kids. We may be the only caring person that they come in contact with all day or all week. In other things, I may have some opportunities to do inservices for staff at some area nursing homes. Geratrics aren't my favorite BUT, at $150 an inservice, I can deal.
That is about it for us! There isn't much in the very near future coming up either...
